  • Hi,

Just joined this forum and hope to learn from everyone here. I’m near completion on my home renovation and want to be able to control the lights in the house. I have searched and read many articles online but still confused here. I’m mainly interested in daylight (5000K) bulbs that can dim. I’m planning to buy Hue 2.0 Starter Kit along with th…[Read more]

Is it only certain sections that produce the wrong colors or the entire strip? If it is only some sections than the strip has most likely been physically damaged. If it is the entire strip, still possible that physical damage is the issue but you can remove it from the system and re-add it to see if it works correctly.

The Philips Hue application doesn’t let you pick a number for the color temperature, however there are 3rd party applications that do allow you to do this. One of them for example is called Hue Lights. Also keep in mind that the regular Hue White bulbs do not change kelvin, only the White & Ambiance and White & Color bulbs.

Philips Hue Lights will always need to be powered on in order to be controlled. If you turn a hue light off by the light switch, it will no longer be responsive to the hue app until turned back on. When you turn a hue light back on by the light switch, it will always default to a yellow color, you can not change the default color that it is going…[Read more]

The small Richer Colors icon on the top right of the box is what indicates that it is 3rd gen. The bulb itself is a white base with gold writing that says Hue White & Color, but the bulb does not say richer colors or anything on it directly. You can also tell if you have a 3rd gen color bulb by the part number, you can find the list of them here
