This different between these bulbs and regular Hue White bulbs is that this bulb produces functional white light, meaning this bulb will produce color temperatures that from range from 2200K(yellowish Color) to 6500K(Bright White/Blue Color) while The Hue White Bulbs only produce 2700K(Soft White, yellow color). This new bulb produces 800 lumens at 4000 Kelvin.

The Philips Hue White & Color bulbs already produce this range of color temperature and change colors. This bulb will be in between the Hue White and Hue White & Color.

These bulbs do not have have a price and will be available in Spring 2016.

To give you a better idea on what this bulb does, this screenshot of the hue lights page shows the kelvin range in the top portion. The far left of the kelvin area is 2200K and the far right is 6500K. The Hue white ambiance bulb will only be able to be moved around within the kevlin area.
