Is it only certain sections that produce the wrong colors or the entire strip? If it is only some sections than the strip has most likely been physically damaged. If it is the entire strip, still possible that physical damage is the issue but you can remove it from the system and re-add it to see if it works correctly.

The Philips Hue application doesn’t let you pick a number for the color temperature, however there are 3rd party applications that do allow you to do this. One of them for example is called Hue Lights. Also keep in mind that the regular Hue White bulbs do not change kelvin, only the White & Ambiance and White & Color bulbs.

Philips Hue Lights will always need to be powered on in order to be controlled. If you turn a hue light off by the light switch, it will no longer be responsive to the hue app until turned back on. When you turn a hue light back on by the light switch, it will always default to a yellow color, you can not change the default color that it is going…[Read more]

The small Richer Colors icon on the top right of the box is what indicates that it is 3rd gen. The bulb itself is a white base with gold writing that says Hue White & Color, but the bulb does not say richer colors or anything on it directly. You can also tell if you have a 3rd gen color bulb by the part number, you can find the list of them here

  • Neither the gen 1 or gen 2 Philips Hue apps have a paid option, sounds like you downloaded a third party application. Links to the Philips Hue app can be found here

With Philips Hue lights you would always want to make sure that your light switches are always powered on to be able to control them.

  • There is not currently a random option for Routines which is what replaced Alarms from the Gen 1 app. Hopefully with all of the feedback received this can be added in to the gen 2 Hue app in the future.

Make sure your lights are not installed on any type of Dimmer or 3-way switch. Also have you tried them in different fixtures to see if this still happens?

  • The only way to group up lights in the Philips Hue app is by Rooms, you could create a room called Cabinet lights and dim the entire room to control them as a group, but there is not currently another way to combine those lights together. Possibly in a 3rd party application.

  • Try forgetting your wifi network from your device. Go to settings, then Wifi, select your network name and then Forget this network. Once you are no longer connected, select the network, enter your wifi password and try to connect to the hue bridge again.

I don’t know of any third party applications that have a feature like this. I’d try checking with Hue Lights and iConnect Hue

  • sev replied to the topic Connecting the hub in the forum Hue Forum 1 year, 7 months ago

You need to plug the bridge into one of the available ethernet ports on your router, most routers have 4 ports on the back. Sometimes security things like that can block the connection to the bridge,

  • That’s a really strange issue, never heard of that before. It is either defective or something is telling it to turn off, one other thing I would try is the clean up in the hue app Settings/Hue Bridges/i. This will make you reset your scenes and routines but that would eliminate the possibility of anything making the strip do that. Also make sure…[Read more]

  • This is a known issue with the motion sensor, hopefully it will get fixed soon. Basically even if you set it to do nothing for one of the times, it will still turn the lights off after no motion.

  • You have to added the extension to the original 2m lightstrip plus, thats the configuration it was designed for. You would not be able to use the extension then add the strip.

If your hue lights no longer show up in your hue app or are disconnected, follow the bulb connectivity guide to get them re-added to your bridge.
